Review: Earned Citizenship by Michael Sullivan

I recently reviewed Earned Citizenship by Michael Sullivan for the Manhattan Book Review. It’s rigorous work of both political and moral philosophy exploring what is owed to/by immigrants and citizens to each other:

The prose isn’t so much dense as it is demanding. Following Sullivan’s argumentation isn’t difficult but readers must engage with the reasoning and, most importantly, make moral decisions. Earned Citizenship is vitally effective because readers aren’t simply expanding their knowledge framework, but required to make ongoing ethical decisions and to live out that morality in their everyday lives. It is a challenging and engrossing book.
